National Celebrations

National Public Lands Day (September 27, 2008) Public lands offer a variety of fishing and boating opportunities. National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. In 2007, 110,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, planted trees and plants, and removed trash and invasive plants. Join others on Saturday, September 27, 2008, for the 15th annual National Public Lands Day and help care for our land.

Each National Get Outdoors Day event has a mix of information centers and "active fun" areas - places where guests, and especially kids, can use a fishing pole, go geocaching, help pitch a tent and more.

National Marina Day focuses specifically on two central themes: the important role marinas play as safe, family-friendly gateways to boating and the invaluable service marina operators and owners perform as stewards of the environment.  Learn more about this event and how you can get involved.
